About our neurology service

Our neurology team will diagnose and care for you if you have a problem with your nervous system.

We offer:

  • a full outpatient service
  • a range of neurological tests
  • treatments including medication
  • referrals for surgery, if you need it.

We work closely with teams at specialist neurological hospitals. If you need more complex investigations or treatment, we may refer to you to one of them, such as:

  • The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery
  • Charing Cross Hospital.

Conditions cared for by neurology

We will care for you if you have one of a number of common neurological problems, such as:

  • headache disorders, such as migraine
  • loss of consciousness, such as epilepsy
  • stroke or transient ischaemic attack (TIA)
  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • peripheral neuropathy.

We also look after you if you have a neurodegenerative disorder, such as:

  • Parkinson's disease
  • Alzheimer's disease
  • motor neuron diseases
  • other cognitive diseases.

Research in our neurology service

Our team have a special interest in neurodegenerative disorders, including:

  • Parkinson's disease
  • young onset dementia
  • multiple sclerosis
  • stroke.

We have close links to the Dementia and Neurodegenerative Disease Clinical Research Network for North Thames, as the Network's Director and Parkinson’s disease lead are consultants in our department.
