Nadeem's fifty-fifty challenge

Nadeem Aslam, a 50-year-old father of two from Northwood Hills, is undertaking an extraordinary challenge to honour the memory of his parents by completing 50 half and full marathons in a single year.

Nadeem was inspired to act after losing both his parents within three months of each other following falls at home.

His fundraising effort is supporting London North West University Healthcare (LNWH) Charity, helping fund hospital falls prevention teams.

“I didn't realise how significant the risk of falls is for older people until I experienced it personally. This challenge is my way of raising awareness and making a difference.”

Nadeem, who is halfway through his challenge, is following a demanding schedule which involves running a full marathon each month and completing half marathons in the weeks in between.

His journey has already taken him across the UK and further afield including races in Germany, Italy and Pakistan.

Nadeem remains focused on his mission, despite the physical demands.

"Recovery is key and involves plenty of stretching, proper nutrition and consistency. It is the cause that keeps me going and knowing my efforts can help others.”

Nadeem is no stranger to endurance fundraising, having previously completed a 24-hour walk, a 100-mile cycle ride and a London-to-Brighton run but says his '50 at 50' challenge is the meaningful yet.
