Transport and travel

If you meet certain criteria, you may be eligible for either patient transport or help towards your travel costs.

Hospital transport

You may be able to use our patient transport service if you need certain support getting to and from your appointment.

Help toward travel costs

You might be able to get help with your transport costs. Depending on which benefits or allowances you receive, you may be eligible to claim part, or all, of the cost of travel providing you have the correct documentation to support your claim.

We usually ask that you use public transport to get to us. If you use a car, you may be able to claim back up-to 15p a mile and parking charges, if they are unavoidable.

You must retain all receipts to evidence your travel costs.

Low income scheme

You may be able to get further help with NHS costs through the NHS Low income scheme (LIS).
