Name our robots competition

Ealing and Northwick Park hospitals are asking the public to help choose names for two new surgical robots that start work next week.

“We're looking for some fun ideas and would really like our staff and the local community to get involved,” said CEO Pippa Nightingale.

“We encourage all our staff to wear 'My name is ….' badges to present a friendlier public face and that applies to our two newest employees.”

The robots, which are expected to perform 700 surgical procedures a year by 2027, will deliver more precise procedures as well as offering faster recovery times and better outcomes for patients.

Please send your suggestions to lnwh-tr.communications@nhs.net and write 'robot naming competition' in the headline along with a name for each robot and the relevant hospital.

The most famous naming competition in the past decade was for a £200m arctic research vessel.

The public's top choice was Boaty McBoatface only for the straight-faced organisers to get cold feet and relegate it to the moniker of the ship's  underwater submersible.

The hospital trust hope for a less fraught selection process but welcome all entries. The closing date for entries May 14.
