Pharmacy shortlisted for national award

A medicines management transformation programme that has delivered more than £5.3m in improvement and efficiency savings has been shortlisted for a national prize.

LNWH is among the finalists in the Medicines, Pharmacy and Prescribing Initiative of the Year category at the 2026 Health Service Journal Awards.

The trust's Medicines Management Transformation Programme was introduced in 2023 to create a single clinically led, data-driven transformation programme with shared accountability across pharmacy, finance and clinical teams.

Its successes include reducing unwarranted variation, improving patient experience, supporting medicines optimisation and contributing to the NHS Net Zero agenda.

Pharmacist Aarti Patel said: “This work has never been about savings alone. It has been about creating a sustainable, scalable model that supports better patient outcomes, strengthens organisational performance and delivers lasting value across the wider health system.

It has been about creating a sustainable, scalable approach to medicines optimisation that supports better patient outcomes, strengthens organisational performance and delivers lasting value across the wider health system.

“This recognition reflects the dedication and commitment of many colleagues across pharmacy, finance, clinical services, procurement, operational teams and our wider North West London partners. It has been a genuine team effort.”
