Research Fellow Ben Zane with colleagues in the Netherlands

Project 90

Project 90 starring Benjamin Zare. It might sound like a sci fi blockbuster but for research fellow Ben it provided the opportunity of a work placement abroad courtesy of the British Society of Gastroenterology (BSG) Project 90 Travelling Fellowship in Advanced Endoscopy.

Ben's placement took him to the Academic Medical Centre in Amsterdam where he learnt more about advanced endoscopic practice in patients with familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP), other polyposis syndromes and early colorectal cancer, advanced endoscopic management, surveillance strategies, and registry-led multidisciplinary care and advanced endoscopic imaging.

Ben, who is currently working on a PhD focused on FAP and hereditary gastrointestinal cancer syndromes, said: “It was a fantastic experience, and I'm very grateful to the BSG and the Project 90 team for supporting the fellowship and providing the opportunity to learn from colleagues at Amsterdam UMC.
