Wings of hope donation

To mark Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, local residents Rasik Shah and Sarla Chavda donated a special painting to Northwick Park Hospital's children's oncology unit.

During their honeymoon cruise, they were moved by the story behind American artist Michael Godard's 'Wings of Hope', created after he lost his 15-year-old daughter to cancer and intended to support children in treatment and cancer research.

Having also lost relatives to cancer, the couple commissioned the painting to bring comfort, strength and hope to young patients and their families.

Rasik, a Northwick Park patient since 1980, arranged the donation through the Macmillan advice centre.

Paediatric oncology clinical nurse specialist Miriam Sager said: “This is an extremely generous and thoughtful gift and our heartfelt thanks go to Rasik and Sarla.

The painting's beauty and story will bring colour, comfort and hope to patients, families and staff for years to come.”
