Ear, nose and throat (ENT)

Our Ear, Nose and Throat (or ENT) service looks after you if you have one of a number of conditions affecting your head and neck.

• ENT emergency clinic: located in the ENT outpatients clinic at Northwick Park Hospital, phone 020 8869 3720, treats patients referred from our accident and emergency departments and urgent care centres.

GPs can call 020 8869 5364 if they have questions about a patient's care.

We provide:

• full diagnostic and outpatient services, at Central Middlesex, Ealing and Northwick Park Hospitals
• day surgery, at Central Middlesex and Northwick Park Hospitals
• short stay surgery,  at Central Middlesex and Northwick Park Hospitals
• complex surgery, at Northwick Park Hospital.

Head and neck cancer services

We provide care if you have head and neck cancer, including specialist endocrine surgery. Our consultant surgeons work closely with our wider clinical team to review  your diagnosis and agree the best treatment plan for you.

Head and neck conditions

We care for you if you have one of various head and neck conditions involving:

• your nose
• the space in your mouth behind your gums and teeth (known as the oral cavity)
• the space between your nose and mouth (known as the pharynx)
• your voice box (known as the larynx).

We also diagnose and treat:

• thyroid disease
• salivary gland disease
• skin cancers involving the ears, nose and lips

Our team work closely with our colleagues in oncology and speech and language therapy, dieticians and maxillo-facial surgeons to ensure you receive high quality, coordinated care.

Nose and sinus conditions

We provide both medical and surgical treatment for conditions affecting the nose and sinsues, including: 

• congenital and acquired nasal deformity
• chronic and acute rhinosinusitis
• nasal allergy. 

Ear conditions

We carry out advanced middle ear surgery and provide full audiology support. Our audiology department offers standard and digital hearing aids.

Children's ENT services

For children, we can provide a comprehensive range of diagnostic tests and treatments for conditions such as:

• glue ear
• recurrent tonsillitis
• ENT infections
• hearing loss.

We perform all general paediatric ENT surgery except for:

• surgery for children under two years old
• complex craniofacial disorders
• genetic conditions with complex pathophysiology.

Ear care (aural care) clinic

Our specialist nurse-led aural care clinics at Central Middlesex and Northwick Park Hospitals support patients with conditions such as: 

• recurrent ear infections (otitis externa)
• difficult ear wax removals
• mastoidectomy cavity care.

ENT emergency clinic

We run an ENT emergency clinic at Northwick Park Hospital, ENT outpatients clinic.

GPs can contact our on-call ENT doctors by calling switchboard on 020 8864 3232 to make an urgent referral to this clinic.
