Nurses see their stars rise
Two nurses from Northwick Park Hospital have won Rising Star awards from the Royal College of Nursing.
Naveen Harikumar and Katherine Saeb have been recognised as exceptional examples of nursing within the Black and Asian community at the annual awards.
Naveen, who works in the stroke unit, has been recognised for his encouragement and practical support in helping new overseas nurses arriving at the trust.
“I've been there myself so know how overwhelming it can be and have developed an orientation pack as well as being available in person if people want to talk.”
Katherine has had been a particularly busy year having finished a secondment on a surgical ward.
Her projects have included creating the Quiet Room for staff and #TimetoTurn, a simple but effective alarm system reminding nurses to regularly turn patients to prevent pressure sores which had won and was presented in PNA national conference.
