Choir sings Rony’s song

A national choir has recorded a song originally written by an intensive care doctor during the height of the pandemic.

The National Health Supporters Choir will release ‘Super Heroes’ to coincide with the NHS’s 74th birthday on July 3 with proceeds split between the Intensive Care Society and Healthcare Workers Foundation

The choral arrangement is based on an original song by Rony Berrebi.

The 40-year-old consultant works at Northwick Park which was the first hospital in the UK to be hit by Covid-19 in 2020.

Rony said: “The pandemic was the toughest two years of my career and I saw how close some of my colleagues came to burning out because we were looking after so many seriously ill patients.

“I thought I had to do something and decided to write and record a song to both raise awareness of mental health issues and donate any money raised to support health professionals.”

The original recording raised more than £9,000 for mental health and post-traumatic stress disorder treatment for frontline staff caring for Covid-19 patients.

The new recording saw the choir recording their respective parts remotely with the hope that it will raise further money.
