Festive pantomime brings cheer to children
A festive pantomime has brought cheer to children at Northwick Park Hospital, making sure they don’t miss out on fun they’d usually experience at this time of year.
Starlight foundation sprinkled a touch of Christmas magic, with Alf the elf and her friend boosting the spirits of children, parents and ward staff with uplifting festive sing-a-longs and humorous comedy.
On their very important mission from Santa, the elves also ran an arts and crafts session.
Children were helped to make drawings and decorative picture frames as Christmas presents for friends and other loved ones, some of whom they may currently not be able to spend much time with due to their health.
Gail Manning, Registered Health Play Specialist said:
“Christmas can be a particularly difficult time of year for children to be in hospital, missing out on their usual celebrations, so it’s been fantastic to share festive joy including a special pantomime performance.
“Our thanks to Starlight foundation and all the organisations who have helped bring Christmas magic to our children and families.”
The hospital’s experienced Play team use their skills through play to help children feel more relaxed and comfortable in an unfamiliar place, which helps to make it easier for them to receive treatment, making for a more pleasant experience.
