Funding success for charity set up by Ealing surgeon
Congratulations to Sala Abdalla whose surgical charity is one of only three in the UK to receive special fellowship funding from the Royal College of Surgeons for England.
The Ealing surgeon picked up a £5,000 cheque in recognition of the humanitarian work Operation International UK does in Africa.
Sala’s willingness to help others less fortunate led her to set-up the charity where groups of surgeons, nurses and anaesthetists volunteer to travel to low-income countries to carry out free operations and train doctors and nurses.
Sala said: “It’s a very proud moment and I am thrilled beyond words that my charity has received this recognition.”
The Stefan Galeski Global Surgery Fellowship helps surgical trainees with a commitment to global health to actively contribute, learn from and participate in global surgery outreach initiatives.
