Sweet victory for diabetes team
Victory is sweet for Ealing Hospital’s Paediatric Diabetes Team who were crowned champs at the Diabetes Nursing Awards (DNA) a year after finishing runners up.
Their successful bid for Paediatric Nurse of the Year reflects their work encouraging more children and young people to wear devices that automatically administer insulin as well as being able to remotely monitor blood sugar levels.
Emily Mayhew, DNA organiser said: "Ealing exemplifies excellence in paediatric diabetes nursing. Their compassion, innovation and teamwork are making a real difference to young people’s lives and futures.”
Judges noted the ethnically diverse caseload managed by the team and their high success in getting youngsters to use pumps compared to other areas in the UK.
