Blood and organ donation

Throughout the country there are shortages of the blood and organs needed to help save lives. With your help, this can change.

Giving blood saves lives

The blood you give is a lifeline in an emergency and for people who need long-term treatments. Many people would not be alive today if donors had not generously given their blood.

We need to make sure that we have enough supplies of all blood groups and blood types to treat all types of conditions. By giving blood, every donor helps us meet the challenge of providing life-saving products whenever and wherever they are needed.

Organ donation

Would you take an organ if you needed one? Nearly everyone would. But only 28% of us have joined the Organ Donor Register.

More than 10,000 people in the UK currently need a transplant. Of these, 1,000 a year – that's three a day - will die waiting as there are not enough organs available.

Anyone can register to donate their organs and tissue when they die, regardless of their age or medical conditions.

You can speak to a specialist nurse for organ donation on 07659 100 103.
