Our audiology team provide assessments and support for hearing conditions.

About the adult's audiology service

Our adult's audiology team provide:

  • hearing assessments and reassessments
  • fitting and fine tuning of hearing aids
  • repair drop off service for hearing aids

This service is available at:

  • Central Middlesex Hospital
  • Ealing Hospital
  • Northwick Park Hospital

About the children's audiology service

Our children's audiology team provide:

  • a second tier service for children aged 8 months to 18 years old for:
    • age appropriate behavioural hearing assessments
    • middle ear and outer ear assessments
    • hearing monitoring and surveillance
  • a third tier service for children from birth with permanent hearing loss, a hearing loss risk factor and/or struggle to perform an age appropriate hearing test. This service provides:
    • behavioural hearing assessment
    • middle ear and outer assessment
    • hearing monitor and surveillance
    • electrophysiological assessment of hearing
    • hearings aids and other assistive listening devices
    • repair and maintenance drop-off service for hearing aids

Hearing aid service

Batteries

Hearing aid batteries can be collected from:

  • Central Middlesex Hospital: ACAD reception desk, Monday to Friday, between 9am and 4.30pm
  • Northwick Park Hospital: Outpatient reception desk, Level 4, Monday to Friday, between 9am and 4.30pm

You will need to bring your brown battery book/white battery card with you.

You can recycle your old batteries safely in collection bins found on our hospital sites and in most supermarkets. Or you can bring these along with you at your next audiology appointment for recycling.

Hearing aid repairs

For adults hearing aid repairs:

  • book an appointment at Central Middlesex or Northwick Park Hospital by calling 020 8869 2908 or ext 2036 or
  • drop-off your hearing aid and we will contact you when it is ready for collection. This service is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 4.30pm at:
    • ACAD reception at Central Middlesex Hospital or
    • Outpatient reception desk, Level 4 at Northwick Park Hospital.

For children hearing aid repairs please contact the department and arrange an appointment.

How to refer to the audiology service

Paediatric and adult referrals from GPs and consultants can be made through the NHS e-Referrals Service (e-RS). Existing patients requiring hearing reassessments will need to be re-referred.

We also accept referrals from speech therapists, health visitors, and other health professionals. Email your referral to lnwh-tr.access-centre@nhs.net.
