About our A&E departments
Our Emergency Departments are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week for anyone seeking emergency treatment caused by an accident or illness.
We have two Emergency Departments, at Ealing and Northwick Park Hospitals.
We also have three Urgent Treatment Centres (UTC) at Central Middlesex, Ealing, and Northwick Park Hospitals. Our UTCs are a GP-led minor injury and illness centre.
Our Emergency Departments are often extremely busy, so if you don't need emergency care, take a look at Get the right care for you for advice on the most appropriate service for you.
Caring for children in A&E
We look after children under the age of 16 and who need emergency care at:
- Urgent Treatment Centres at Central Middlesex, Ealing and Northwick Park Hospitals
- our Emergency Department at Northwick Park Hospital.
If you come to Ealing Hospital, your child will be assessed by our team.
In most cases, your child will be seen in the Urgent Treatment Centre. In some cases, staff may refer your child to an Emergency Department, either at Northwick Park Hospital, or elsewhere.
If your child is not well enough to be transferred to Northwick Park Hospital when they arrive, our team will stabilise them at Ealing Hospital, and then will arrange for them to be transferred to Northwick Park Hospital.
