Authors help promote hospital library

A group of best-selling authors has agreed to help promote leisure reading for hospital staff with a fiction and wellbeing collection in Northwick Park Library

Writers including Lynda La Plante, Frederick Forsyth and Maggie Gee will appear on the trust’s social media platforms reading a passage from one of their novels as well as offering free signed copies in an online competition.

Northwick Park Library’s Wellbeing Hub has been quietly gathering donated books for several decades with space for more than 1,700 titles on its shelves.

Head Librarian Fraser Wilson said: “We’ve got a great selection of books and the room also provides a quiet refuge for colleagues who just want some down time.

“It’s a bit of a hidden secret and we’re delighted the authors we approached agreed to take part. It’s about promoting wellbeing through reading but also putting a smile on people’s faces.”

The trust will be posting each author’s reading once a fortnight on its Facebook page in conjunction with the book competition.
