Baristas keep hospital staff going

Noxy Brothers has been helping put some zing back into hospital staff by serving up free coffee.

Their business, which has seven outlets in the City and West End, was hit badly by the pandemic and owners Hoss Faridany and JP Leclef thought about how they could make the best of a bad situation.

Hoss said: “We wanted to do our bit and came up with the idea of setting up shop in the hospital.

“Our investors backed the idea along with our coffee suppliers who donated 100 kilos of beans and our landlord who made a £15,000 donation. It’s been a real team effort and the staff appreciate what we’re doing which is nice.”

The baristas are doing a roaring trade serving up to 500 coffees a day at Northwick Park although they have pared-down their usual selection by focusing solely on expresso based drinks.

The partners - who’ve been friends for more than 20 years – gave up their jobs last year to pursue their passion for coffee.

Hoss added: “We both grew up in Middle Eastern households so coffee is in our blood. We have plans to expand the number of outlets once the business lockdown ends but are just taking things a step at a time like everyone else.”

Hoss has first-hand experience of Covid-19 having been ill at the beginning on the pandemic.

“It was like a bad dose of the flu but I’m fine now. Besides, I’ve got plenty to keep me busy.”
