Bonza cake for babes

Staff at Northwick Park Hospital were kept sweet when a grateful mum baked the mother of all cakes to thank them for treating her prematurely born baby.

Chloe Cheshire’s youngest son spent two months on the Neonatal Unit and used her baking skills to help the team celebrate Kangaroo Care Day which promotes the benefit of skin-to-skin contact between mums and babies.

Chloe said: “My son was in the unit eight years ago and when I read a local Facebook post about Kangaroo Care Day I wanted to support them and show my thanks.

“I have my own cake business now and spent two days making a mother and baby kangaroo.”

Neonatal consultant Khadiji Ben-Sasi said: “It was an absolute work of art. The whole team was absolutely overwhelmed with such a lovely kind gesture. It truly made this year’s Kangaroo Care celebration extra special.”

It isn’t the first time Chloe has tempted hospital staff’s taste buds having previously baked for intensive care and the maxillo-facial team.

“Cake making is my hobby and full-time job. It’s my passion.”
