Clinical Nurse Specialist Day

Macmillan Cancer Support (MCS) tipped its hat to local nurse Therese Hona as part of the first ever National Clinical Nurse Specialist Day which recognises the work of staff supporting people with a cancer diagnosis.

Therese, a Complex Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist at St Mark’s Hospital, said: “I’m an advocate for all my patients ensuring they have all the information they need so that they can make the best decision for them.

“I feel strongly about providing personalised care for my patients and involving them in all aspects of their cancer care via face-to-face, telephone or video consultations.”

MCS is lobbying the Government for more Macmillan nursing posts with the number of people living with cancer expected to almost double by 2030.
