Go, Shiksha, go!
A Harrow mother will be lacing up her trainers to raise money for LNWH Charity at the Royal Parks Half Marathon on October 9.
Shiksha Bhanshaly will be digging deep to support the work of Northwick Park Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit which looks after pre-maturely born babies.
It’s a personal race for Shiksha whose four-year-old twin sons Ahaan and Aarin spent time on three different neonatal units including Northwick Park after being born 26 weeks early.
Shiksha said: “I was impressed the staff were so approachable and took the time to explain everything through what was a real roller-coaster of a journey.”
The mother of two has already chalked up one half marathon and is squeezing in several days a week training for her upcoming race.
The 13.1 mile course passes through four of the capital’s royal parks as well as famous landmarks including the London Eye. Trafalgar Square and Buckingham Palace.
Shiksha first began running in 2020 and previously raised more than £6,000 for the unit as part of a team supported by her employer Barclays.
She hopes to raise a further £500 at the Royal Parks but would welcome any further support via her JustGiving page at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/shiksha-bhanshaly1
