Local boy gets top job

James Walters has been appointed as the new Chief Operating Officer (COO) for London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust.

He joined the organisation in 2013 having previously worked for Ealing Hospital and community services but his association with it goes back to 1976 when he was born at Northwick Park Hospital.

James and his team will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the trust’s four hospital sites which include Central Middlesex, Ealing, St Mark’s and Northwick Park hospitals.

James said: “There are challenges ahead which include regaining our planned care position and improving on it to reduce harmful long waits for our patients. We can do that best by working closely with partners across the sector and with our local authority and primary care colleagues.

“We’ve already seen that we can make massive progress, with support from all our services, so I’m excited to continue this work in my new role.”

Incoming Chief Executive Pippa Nightingale says: “I’m delighted that James will be taking up the Chief Operating Officer role.

“It’s clear James has earnt the respect and trust of colleagues across the Trust. His operational experience and understanding of LNWH will be a great benefit to us as we take on the new and exciting challenges ahead.”
