NHS workers saddle up for charity

NHS double act Helene and Naomi Buijs are gearing up for a London to Paris charity cycle ride.

The mother and daughter have been training three times a week in preparation for the 355 mile ride.

The pair, who work as a Macmillan nurse and physiotherapist, will be raising money for Mission EmployAble who help people with Learning Disabilities into employment.

Helene said: “I was quite shocked when I read that 94% of the 1.5 million people with learning disabilities in the UK are unemployed or doing voluntary work.”

The pair hope to raise £2,000 which will be used to train people with learning disabilities in a repurposed cricket pavilion in Chorleywood.

The four-day ride includes an opening 90 mile leg-trember to Dover with successive days of 80 plus miles before a welcome return trip on the Euro Star.
