Pollen bomb alert

A pollen bomb is expected to hit London this weekend heaping more discomfort on people affected by hay fever.

Trees and grass are expected to release millions of grains of pollen over a short period of time as a result of the prolonged hot weather.

Local hospitals are already struggling with record numbers of patients coming into A&E with respiratory conditions like asthma.

High pressure and light winds prevent the pollen being dispersed more easily, meaning that levels remain high and peak during early morning and late evening.

The North West London Integrated Care System has issued advice for both asthma and hay fever sufferers in order to try and reduce the number of A&E admissions.
