Pop star support for hospital
One of Northwick Park’s most famous sons has lent his moral support to the hospital by reaching out on social media.
Simon Le Bon briefly worked as a porter at the hospital back in the day before finding fame with pop band Duran Duran.
The band had a succession of chart-topping hits including Rio, Hungry like the Wolf and Girls on Film. They were dubbed the ‘Fabulous Five’ by the British Press and were PrincessDiana’s favourite band.
Simon mentioned London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust in the tweet saying:
“Many years ago I worked as a porter at Northwick Park Hospital. They've asked me to help with their COVID-19 fundraising. I'm not saying that they need it more than any other hospital does, but here it is #NHS’
Simon’s tweet gained more than 1,000 likes in a hour.
The trust were also championed in recent weeks by TV presenter Piers Morgan after his show featured footage of nurse Alicia Borja being cheered out of hospital by colleagues after a month-long fight with Covid-19.
