Stewart takes a run in the sun
If you were going to run a 5km charity race we could think of better places than downtown Lagos where the traffic is bumper-to-bumper and temperatures can reach a sweltering 38C.
Thankfully, gynaecologist and obstetrician Stewart Disu was made of sterner stuff and, after several months training in the more temperate climes of Mill Hill, delivered a gutsy performance completing the distance in 35:51secs.
Stewart said: “I did the run at 7.30am in the morning but it was very hot and humid. We ended up running across the Lekki-Ikoyi Bridge which is a famous landmark in Lagos.”
To date, Stewart has raised £1,243 as part of Endometriosis Awareness Action Month. Endometriosis is a condition where tissue similar to the womb lining develops in other areas, such as the ovaries and fallopian tubes.
