Traffic diversions at Northwick Park Hospital A&E

We’re at the next construction phase of our new 32-bed unit, on top of A&E at Northwick Park Hospital.

Over the next few weeks, we’re receiving deliveries of heavy materials. During this time you may be diverted to alternative drop-off and pick-up points for A&E.

The traffic marshals will be available for assistance and advice if you need it.

A new 32-bed unit will be built on top of the existing A&E department at Northwick Park providing the hospital with much needed additional bed space.

The hopsital trust successfully bid for a national pot of money from NHS England to increase general and acute bed capacity.

Its benefits include reducing the amount of time patients wait in A&E for a bed, improving patient safety, reducing ambulance waits and better managing seasonal demand, especially in winter.

Pippa Nightingale, Chief Executive of LNWH, said: “We have one of the biggest and busiest A&Es in the country so this is a welcome and much needed addition to our capacity.

“It’s crucial to maintain flow through the hospital so we have enough beds. An enormous amount of work goes on behind-the-scenes every day to ensure this happens. The new unit will help us better manage this.”
