Occupational therapy for adults
Our adult occupational therapy team work across all our hospitals to help you gain as much independence as possible for daily activities.

Adult occupational therapy services for inpatients
If you're an inpatient in one of our hospitals, we might assess and treat you if you have a condition related to:
- neurology, or if you have recently had a stroke
- cardiology
- vascular (including if you have recently had an amputation)
- respiratory
- elderly care
- trauma and orthopaedics
- infectious diseases
- gastroenterology
- endocrinology.
We also work closely with other healthcare professionals to provide you with rehabilitation.
Adult occupational therapy services if being discharged
If you're being discharged, we may assess you to check that you have everything you need to safely leave our hospitals.
This may include:
- visiting your home
- referring you for additional equipment
- if you have a carer, making sure that they are fully informed about what your care and what you need.
Hand therapy service
Our hand therapy service will assess and treat you, as well as providing you with an individually-made splint if you need one.
If you have arthritis, we will also help provide you with information and advice.
We care for you if you:
- have had trauma
- need or have had hand surgery
- have rheumatoid arthritis
- have osteo-arthritis.
